Change of State is a building-scale projection on the facade of New Museum. It investigates the architectural form of the museum and seeks to explore the realities of building such a structure: the orchestration of materials, direct and indirect forces that are violent yet elegant, usually hidden from view. The event was cancelled the night before due to sudden change of decision in city regulations, and only the proposal remains.
Change of State is also the name of the umbrella project curated and produced by Nuit Blanche New York that features twelve building-scale works by artists and architects, including Agathe de Bailliencourt, Diller Scofidio + Renfro, Nicolas Guagnini, and Krysztof Wodiczko, curated for the occasion of New Museum’s IDEAS City Festival.
